Ellen B. Scripps became a legend in La Jolla through unselfish dedication to the service of others. In 1948 her niece, Nackey Scripps Meanley, together with husband Tom and son William established Meanley & Son Hardware dedicated to that same principle of service. After 59 years, the tradition continues. With gourmet cookware, kitchen gadgets, Ace and Frazee paint, cleaning supplies, garden, electrical, plumbing, hardware, etc. and all the widgets, fasteners, glues, and whatjamacallits you would expect.  It's a hardware store for everyone;  visiting travelers, new residents and old-timers alike. In 1997 Meanley's joined the ACE Hardware Co-op. Ace is the place, a co-op of independently owned and operated hardware stores joining together to provide customers with world class service and competitive prices. With ACE as a partner, Meanley is ready for the 21st century.
